Hilda's Home

Hilda's home is intended to be the last home explored by players. While not inheritely being rich in story, it features the final piece in a puzzle that when assembled, tells the story of a tragedy long forgotten by its residents.

Design

Hilda's house is rather old and outdated, with Hilda struggling to pay for necessary upgrades that would have her home better fit the rest of Lunarvale. As such, Dirt-clod walls and Common flooring take up the majority of the home. An important detail to note is the antique furniture Hilda uses, which further compliments the theming of Hilda's interior. The abundance of apple cider bottles and tin cans contrasts this old but stable environment, which presents an interesting theme if players decide to pick up on this.

As mentioned earlier, the exception to the same-y wall/flooring is the bathroom of course, which uses White mosaic-tile flooring. This was a requirement unfortunately paid for by Marianne since older tiled floors used... asphalt tiling. Eugh. On the bright side, the bathroom has an assortment of things that suggest a life outside of solitude, like a protein bottle given to her by Brad, and an outfit from Marianne's closet once thought to be thrown away.

While minimalized, Hilda's home used be more intricately-designed with gothic architecture in shades of purple and black. In the modern day, the only thing that survives this is Hilda's bed and plushies, something she refuses to toss out even in spite of Marianne's orders.

History

Hilda's home was the last-one designed, but was the second home constructed on Lunarvale. When the island was more free-form, Hilda's home was originally intended to be a single room in the style of an apartment building. However, when the idea of secret rooms were added, the home was further upgraded and initially became a gothic home.

Lasting for only a single revision lasting just over a year, the home would then be changed again to the design you see in the final game. Of course, the Dirt-clod wall/Common flooring theme was always present, but at the time it was just a backdrop rather than an actual intended theme.

Trivia

  • If you take the fact that Marianne's home was originally located where Hilda's is... It's entirely possible that this IS Marianne's old home, one that was moved into by Hilda and unfortunately never renovated.
  • Hilda's home is a notable metaphor for her well-being. Much like how the walls are falling apart, Hilda's life is essentially falling apart for one reason or another.
  • Hilda's home is the only home that lacks both the Red two-toned tile wall and Red-brick flooring, something standard for most homes in Lunarvale.
  • Hilda's basement is the only room in Lunarvale that both: functions as a puzzle, and requires players to walk through narrow spaces to achieve an item.
  • Hilda's home was the most tedious to design for, if you take the secret room into consideration.
